3. Tied: TJ Dillashaw & Joe Soto

Title shots given to both TJ Dillashaw & Joe Soto qualify for this list.

Dillashaw’s questionable title shot came at UFC 173, when he pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history to win bantamweight gold. Original challenger for the title that night, Raphael Assuncao, had to pull out last minute, and Dillashaw was inserted into the main event to save the show. Dillashaw had lost to Assuncao just 8 months earlier.

Joe Soto received a title shot against Dillashaw at UFC 177, in his first ever fight for the promotion! Renan Barao had been scheduled for an immediate rematch with Dillashaw, but had a difficult weight cut and needed to pull out. Soto was the only one around who could take the fight evidently.

Soto managed to stay with the champ for the most part, until he was finished by a head kick in the 5th round.
