2. Tim Elliott – TUF Tournament of Champions Finale

Demetrious Johnson has cleaned out the flyweight division; he has no one left to fight. Johnson doesn’t seem interested in going up in weight, and is dead-set on breaking Anderson Silva’s record for consecutive title defences.

With a lack of other challengers available, UFC signed-up all the flyweight champions from smaller promotions. They announced a tournament on TUF with the winner earning a shot at Johnson’s championship.

It didn’t matter that Elliott had been released from the promotion less than 2 years earlier after dropping 3 straight. He’d won the Titan FC inaugural flyweight championship, and that got him in the house.

After winning TUF, Elliott dropped a decision to Demetrious Johnson on December 3rd 2016. He has since defeated Louis Smolka to bring his all-time UFC record to 3-5.
