UFC 203 featured a host of great fights in Cleveland this weekend. Fans in Ohio were treated to some exciting action from the prelims right through to the main event. Unlike some of the recent PPV cards, UFC 203 did not have the massive drawing power we are used to.
Lessons learned from the past prove that its not all about big names, and there were still some great fighters at UFC 203. Certainly CM Punk can’t be included in that list. Definitely Stipe Miocic is right up there, though.
Stipe SMASH!
UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic faced Dutch challenger Alistair Overeem in the main event. It was a tough fight for many to predict, as both men are extremely dangerous strikers in a division that flows with knockouts.
‘The Reem’ is a former K-1 world grand prix champion, making him one of the most decorated strikers in the UFC today. Tons of people put money on this being an absolute war, but it turned out to be a squash match mostly.
The Running Man
Although Alistair Overeem did manage to knock Stipe Miocic down, he was pretty much dominated the whole fight. It never made it out of the first round at UFC 203. Perhaps the biggest thing we can take home is the running man show that Overeem put on.
When you compare this performance to Conor McGregor’s, it’s very interesting…
