Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren have reunited 30+ years later…
Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren are looking to build publicity for the upcoming next installment of the Rocky movie franchise. They’ve recently posted a pic of them standing side-by-side for the first time in over 30 years.
The Rocky films evolved to a 2nd generation with 2015’s “Creed”, which followed Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, as he trained with Rocky Balboa. Now it appears Adonis Creed will look to avenge his father’s death in the next film.
In what many consider the greatest boxing film of all time, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) never woke up after being knocked out by Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) in Rocky IV. In the new film, it is believed Adonis Creed (Michael B Jordan) will seek a fight with Drago. It’s possible he also seeks out a fight with Drago’s son as well.
Here is the IMDB description of the film:
“Adonis Creed tries to seek revenge when he goes toe to toe with the man who killed his father.”
Rocky Balboa vs. Ivan Drago
Of the many things fans loved about Rocky IV, was the epic fight scene between Drago and Rocky. The montage fight-scene features Rocky getting heavily beaten by the much larger Drago early in the bout. As fans would find out later, the blows looked realistic because they were, in fact, real punches. In order to make the film look as realistic as possible, Stallone instructed Lundgren to really hit him during the scene.
“Hey I got an idea, for the first 45 seconds, really try to knock me out, I mean go for it,” Stallone explains he said to Lundgren. “Bad idea. He comes across—boom, boom! He catches me in the chest. Woah. Cut, cut cut, I am directing so I can do that. CUT CUT. He says, ‘What?’ I said, ‘What? I thought I had a car accident!”
Lundgren Sends Stallone To Hospital
Stallone would continue to say that the beating he took from Lundgren that day sent him to the hospital for a 5-day stay:
“Later that night my blood pressure goes up to 260, I go to hospital, they put me in an emergency jet and fly me back to America. Next thing I know I’m in intensive care for five days with nuns walking around.”
“He hit my heart so hard that it banged against my ribs and started to swell, and that usually happens in car accidents. So I was hit by a truck!”
