Takeru Segawa not only lost at ONE 165 last weekend, but he also received a severely bruised leg from his fight against Superlek Kiatmoo9. In his recent post on Instagram, the Japanese fighter shared a picture of his leg that is almost entirely purple due to the hits it took.

Superlek faced Superlek last Sunday to challenge him for his flyweight kickboxing belt. As a former three-division kickboxing world champion, the promotion decided to give Takeru a huge opportunity to have Superlek in his debut fight, but it ended up as a disaster for the Japanese. Although “The Natural Born Crusher” managed to finish all the rounds, it still didn’t end up in his favor when the opponent won via a unanimous decision. Worse, the fighter revealed that his left leg received major bruises.

In his post, Takeru shared the image of his leg alongside a picture of him walking with a crutch. According to the 32-year-old, he tore a muscle in his thigh.

“I wanted to win and prove that I was the best in the world,” Takeru said in his translated post-fight interview.” I wanted to give strength to everyone, to the fans who have supported me and watched the PPV. I wanted to give you all power, but I gave it my all and reached my body’s limits and breaking point. I wanted to win and make everyone proud. I pushed myself like my life depended on it… I wanted to give strength to those people by showing everyone that you can get through it if you work hard, but this is the limit of what I can do. I can’t be stronger than this.”

Despite this earlier emotional statement, Takeru assured fans that he would just take a break. However, with such serious injuries from the fight, it remains unknown when exactly the Japanese fighter will be back in the ring.
