Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Team Have Demanded a Massive Raise After Claiming That the Russian Has Replaced Conor McGregor as the Biggest Star in Mixed Martial Arts…

Khabib Nurmagamedov’s profile has never been bigger. The Dagestani fighter ensured stardom after he emphatically defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229 a few weeks ago. Even the brawl that erupted after didn’t tarnish his reputation or name, because he was able to turn it into a tale of loyalty and redemption.

There have been many rumours over the past number of days about who he will fight next. While the stories linking him to a boxing match are absolute rubbish, there is a massive possibility that he will fight Georges St. Pierre next – although the weight class is still unclear.

Whoever he faces, one thing is for sure: he will earn a bigger sum of money than ever before in his life. And if Ali Abdelaziz has his way (known to many fans as ‘The Rat’) he’ll be getting between $50 and $60 million a fight. Right.

Massive Deal

Abdelaziz believes that his client and friend is now the biggest star in combat sports. He thinks that because he beat Conor McGregor, not only did he seal the lightweight title, but also took the Notorious’s crown as the biggest star in the sport. Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports:

“Ben Askren, (Tyron) Woodley – none of these guys can touch Khabib,” Abdelaziz told TMZ Sports. “Especially if they’re scared to get tired – and these guys, they get tired. Now, I’m not even worrying about Tyron or Ben Askren. I’m worrying about somebody bringing $50 million to $100 million to the table. None of these guys can bring $200,000 to the table – I don’t really care what they say.

“The other guy we just fought, he said he made $50 million. “I think as a global superstar, Khabib bypassed him.”

Money Talks

The manager insists that money is the biggest motivator for Khabib right now – and so it should be after the debacle that his last payday has turned into. He insisted that it’s about paying the Russian what he’s worth. He said:

“Whatever’s going to bring Khabib money. This is now my job. It’s not Khabib’s job. Khabib created a legacy: 11 years, 27 fights. Right now, money talks, bull(expletive) walks. That’s it. … Khabib can retire now. He’s rich. I’m rich now, too. He made me rich. We’re good. But if somebody’s going to put a big paycheck on the table and we can get it done, I don’t care about No. 1 contender, No. 10 contender. Khabib was No. 1 contender for five years. Conor jumped him, Eddie (Alvarez) jumped him, a lot of people jumped him. Right now, it’s about the paycheck.”

Biggest Star?

Obviously, it’s Abdelaziz’s job to talk his client up. There’s absolutely no way that the UFC will pay him anywhere near $50 million for his next fight. Considering McGregor walked away with between $25 and $50 million, and he’s a superstar, it’s just not going to happen.

That’s not to say he won’t become super rich. Khabib doesn’t have the ability to win over the mainstream US though – and that’s where the big money is. He needs a dance partner and the only one that makes sense right now is Georges St. Pierre.
