5. Ken Shamrock vs. Royce Gracie III
When Scott Coker, the former head honcho for Strikeforce, became the new match-maker for Bellator he set about trying to make fights that the casual fan wanted to see. Evidently the casual fan is really interested in seeing old guys from the past.
At Bellator 149 Ken Shamrock was 52 years old and Gracie 49. While both fighters looked to be in pretty good shape for their age, many were critical of the promotion’s willingness to put fighters that age in the cage.
Turns out it didn’t really matter, as just minutes into the fight Gracie accidentally hit Shamrock low, the ref missed it, and Gracie capitalized for the “win”. As bad as this fight was however, it wasn’t even the worst on the show that night.
