An Old Foe From Conor McGregor’s Past Could be Coming Back to Haunt Him… Yes, That’s a Game of Thrones Reference…

Do you remember when Conor McGregor sparred with The Mountain from Game of Thrones, way back in 2015? Born Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the Icelandic bodybuilder is best known for his role in the hit fantasy TV show.

Björnsson is truly an incredible physical specimen. He weighs 400 pounds, stands 6 foot 9, and has the muscle density of a rhinoceros on Vitor Belfort’s steroid diet. Basically, he’s a massive mountain of muscle and the literally the strongest man on earth.

It seems like this towering behemoth isn’t exactly impressed with Conor McGregor right now. Since their sparring match in SBG Dublin, The Notorious has been running his mouth about how he went full David against Goliath. Björnsson has a warning for McGregor. If I was him I’d run to the other side of the planet.

Monster

The Mountain truly is a beast. He’s the World’s Strongest Man 2018, the Arnold Classic Champion 2018, and 4 x Europe’s Strongest Man. In case you’re not taking the hint, let me spell it out for you: he’s very strong.

However, comments made by the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor have left a bad taste in Björnsson’s mouth. He really wasn’t impressed by the way the Notorious acted like he destroyed him when clearly he could crush him with his bare hands.

“It was a lot of fun. That’s a big man — 6-foot-9, 400 pounds. And I still folded him up,” McGregor said in an interview.

Big Mistake

It was all just a bit of fun, but Björnsson still isn’t impressed by McGregor’s lack of class. In a recent interview with Off the Ball, he made it very clear that he would have no problem taking him on again – this time for real. He said:

“Bring me some shorts and put us in a cage, I’ll fight again. I had him a few times, but I just didn’t want to break him. I was like, ‘F-ck this, I’m not going to run after this small guy!’ He’s running around, you know? I don’t have cardio for running around after small guys.”

Obviously, this fight is never going to happen. But it is the sort of mad event that would definitely sell pay-per-views, so Dana White, if you’re reading this, maybe make McGregor’s comeback in Peru or somewhere where they don’t care about weight classes. This could be a goldmine.

Freakshow

This sort of freakshow fight is exactly the sort of thing that PRIDE was famous for. Oh the good old days of excessive steroid taking and no USADA… Whatever happened? McGregor is actively training for a UFC return in 2018. This has been confirmed by his coaching team.

Meanwhile, Björnsson is continuing to be strong. He is set to appear in the final season of Game of Thrones next year. Yes, we have to wait until 2019. That’s just cruel. Remember when he crushed that dude’s head with his bare hands? Now picture him doing that to McGregor. Nasty.
