Is There a More Motivated Fighter in the World Right Now Than Tony Ferguson? The Former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion is in Uncertain Territory After a Controversial Victory Over Donald Cerrone… But El Cucuy Knows What He Wants Next…

Tony Ferguson is very possibly the most dangerous lightweight fighter on the planet. You simply do not know what he is going to do next. After beating Donald Cerrone, to earn his twelfth victory in a row, you’d assume that he would be guaranteed the next title shot against Khabib Nurmagamedov or interim champion Dustin Poirier.

However, there are no such guarantees in the fight game anymore. A lot depends on what Conor McGregor decides to do because he would love that rematch with Khabib. This could push Ferguson back in line again, much to the fury of diehard fans.

Now he’s laid out his demands to the UFC very clearly. Khabib and McGregor are the only two names he’s willing to consider and rightly so. Khabib for the title and McGregor for the money fight. Let’s hope he gets what he wants.

Khabib Time

Ferguson put on a phenomenal second round display against Donald Cerrone at UFC 238 in Chicago at the weekend. However, it did end with some controversy after he punched ‘Cowboy’ after the bell. Then Cerrone blew his nose, causing the swelling around his eye to puff up. Dana White has alluded to a potential rematch but Ferguson knows what he wants.

“If Dustin Poirier don’t do it, I’m going to do it,” Ferguson said. “Tiramisu [Khabib Nurmagomedov] needs an ass whooping. He needs two to the stomach from me. If it’s McNuggets [Conor McGregor] for a money fight or whatever. He’s an athlete, too. I know the division misses him inside here. I’m pretty sure he misses the fight game, too.”

Winner

El Cucuy has the longest winning streak in the lightweight division. 12 in a row is quite simply phenomenal. Conor McGregor hasn’t even had 12 UFC fights, nevermind wins in a row. Ferguson has been matched to fight Khabib a ludicrous four times, but unfortunately, they all fell through. He wants to keep his winning streak going.

“I want to keep winning. What sounds better than 12 [wins in a row]? 13 — but it sounds a hell of a lot better with a title shot in that 13th victory. If I were to fight Khabib, guaran-damn-tee you I would throw him from his feet to his back and beat him like in sambo like a five-point move in wrestling. That’s my background,” Ferguson said. “As far as McNuggets goes, I would love to stand toe-to-toe go with that dude.

Business Time

McGregor’s abrasive personality has seen him at odds with many of his fellow UFC fighters, as well as the high-ups in the organization. Ferguson clarified his feelings about the former featherweight and lightweight champion. Basically, he respects the fighter but not the man. He said:

“I respect him as an athlete. As a person, he’s kind of a douche. It’s improper 13, it literally is, and I got an attitude and I have a different agency right now, which is great. There’s no conflict of interest, that’s No. 1 and No. 2 is, I’m here to kick some ass. I ran out of bubble gum. We’re here to do business.”

The Notorious should be afraid.
