If you thought the UFC lightweight division was held up now, wait until this happens…
Taking the first step into the boxing world on August 26, Conor McGregor will attempt the unthinkable. Even boxings best have been unable to dethrone Floyd Mayweather, but the Irishman believes he can do it in his debut.
During his epic career, ‘Money’ has racked up 49 wins without tasting defeat. McGregor, although a badass in the UFC octagon, is being heavily bet against. One fan with deep pockets placed a record breaking $880K on Mayweather to win.
As if their records and experience weren’t already giving enough lopsided odds, McGregor’s bizarre media workout had everyone worried.
McGregor Plans on More Big Boxing Matches
“I love the sport of boxing. Boxing has been dear to my heart my whole, entire life, I will contend in boxing bouts going forward, and I will contend in mixed martial arts bouts going forward. I will rule both with an iron fist, and that’s where my mindset is.”
“I will have fun, I like it over this side. It’s good. The buildup is good, the preparation is good, I love the sport of boxing, I love the sport of mixed martial arts. I just love fighting. So wherever there’s a fight, you’ll see me.”
Looks as though he won’t have to look far, as a certain Mexican monster will take that fight, but only if McGregor wins…
Sauce Man Up For The Dance
“If that miracle was to happen, then we have a conversation,” Alvarez told Fansided. “If that miracle were to happen, but I doubt it very much that Conor beats Floyd.”
It’s been nine months since McGregor won the lightweight title from Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. Now with his focus on Mayweather, and more boxing afterward, will the UFC strip him of a second title?
McGregor failed to defend the 145-pound strap, mainly because he was fighting in other weight classes. Will the UFC wait as long as they did last time, or maybe longer?
McGregor Remains Defiant
He’s a man that beats his wife in front of his kid, he is the dirt of the dirt. So for him to even try and engage like that, that shows me his true colors” McGregor told ESPN,
All writing me off every bleeding article. Let’s see who’s writing who off August 26. I own this game, I own this f*cking game. In my mind, it’s an easy fight. If we go eight ounces, it’s not going two rounds. Don’t act like you’re not excited by all this.
You are sick of the boxing game, the same sh*t, it’s boring. I just want to say to the boxing game-It’s OK to love me, it’s OK. This is a fight that’s been in my crosshairs since Floyd has been running his mouth.
You know what I heard him say yesterday? Nothing, I saw a man scared. I saw a lackluster workout. I am here to win and win in devastating fashion, I don’t care about money, I have forever money, I’m set for life. People doubt me and question my skill set, like I’m a novice.
