15. Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero 2
In the opening two rounds of this clash of the middleweight titans at 2018’s UFC 225, champion Whittaker was dictating the pace and the striking action. It later emerged he’d broken his hand in the first five minutes. But he was rewarded when one of Romero’s eyes started to swell shut.
Romero then proved why he’s one of the UFC’s most feared fighters in the third round though when he put Whittaker down with a thunderous right hand. Though he was clearly rocked, the champion gritted his teeth and fought back, wobbling ‘The Soldier Of God’ with a head kick. The fourth round remained competitive, but the fifth was all Romero. The Cuban sent Whittaker to the canvas again with a big left hand and then mauled him with ground and pound. But the champion survived and edged out a razor-close split decision verdict.
