Yoel Romero (6)
Majority of casual fight fans aren’t aware of the dominance that middleweight contender Yoel Romero has exercised inside of the Octagon.
Since his arrival to a division on the cusp of re-energizing itself, “Soldier of God” has been a one man wrecking crew. From finishing the likes of Lyoto Machida and Tim Kennedy, two of the more accomplished names at 185 pounds, Romero’s ascension has been unprecedented.
While his legendary background as an Olympic wrestler from Cuba fueled his stock coming into the promotion, few believed he’d be a win over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 194 away from challenging for a world title.
It’s just near-impossible to ignore a fighter who has won all six of his UFC bouts, especially one who has showcased his ability to power through adversity by recording three of his five Octagon finishes in the third round.
Not to mention the 38-year-old is also averaging a takedown per round (16 in total).
