Here Comes The Boom

Here Comes The Boom

Okay well it’s not the best MMA movie out there, not even in the least bit of ways. And by and large it’s pretty much a Kevin James flick (yes, the same guy who made Paul Blart: Mall Cop, which surprisingly has a sequel by the way), so you know what to expect.

But it’s on this list because it’s first and foremost entertaining. Secondly, it’s one of the very few movies to put the sport of MMA front and center of a storyline, even crediting a handful of real MMA fighters like Bas Rutten and Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

James plays the lead role of Scott Voss — a school teacher and former amateur wrestler who tries to save a school music program by trying to compete in MMA. Rutten’s character is tasked to prepare Voss for the UFC in a supporting role. Salma Hayek stars opposite of James as the leading lady.

And of course being a Kevin James movie, the script leaves much to be desired and is well, frankly, idiotic. It’s still enjoyable though, in its slapstick humor. If the other movies on this list are unavailable, Here Comes The Boom should be good enough to provide you an hour and a half of fun.
