Memes are often used at the expense of another person or entity, but in the UFC it seems to be quite a bit more personal. When jokes are made about someone getting seriously injured, knocked out or submitted, feelings are often hurt.

It’s not only about the actual fights either. After shows like The Ultimate Fighter became popular, cameras were suddenly following fighters everywhere. Now we get to see every moment, no matter how private, in a UFC fighter’s life. This has lead to reaction memes, jabs at weight and appearance, and many other potentially offensive jibes.

After his brutal knockot loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98, Rashad Evans lost the light-heavyweight title. ‘Suga’ also became the subject of many memes portraying his unfortunate facial expression after the fact.

This depiction of Evans on the popular TV show ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionaire’ is perhaps the most seen.
