(tied)1. Daniel Cormier vs Johnson/Gustafsson
Daniel Cormier has held the UFC light heavyweight championship for over a year and a half, but everyone knows who the real king of the division is.
Jon Jones proved his superiority over Cormier at UFC 182, earning a unanimous decision victory. As cliche as it sounds, the only fighter Jones was unable to defeat was himself. Jones was stripped of his championship completely after his hit-and-run incident and arrest, and was again stripped of the interim belt he won at UFC 197.
Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 for the championship, and then successfully defended it via split-decision over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192. But everyone knew they were really just vying for the title of the best light-heavyweight other than Jon Jones.
As for Cormier, it has been a struggle to get that rematch with Jones. Scheduled bouts have been cancelled due to both injuries and Jones’ UFC 200 drug-test failure. Jones won’t be eligible to fight again until July meanwhile.
