4. UFC 200: Tate vs. Nunes
Amazingly, UFC 200 was only the fourth best PPV event of the year (so far) for the UFC. That is not to say it did badly, in fact over 1 million people purchased the show. In total 1,009,000 purchased it in fact, good enough for 14th all time in UFC history.
Some of the appeal of the show was removed last minute however, when Jon Jones failed a pre-fight drug test. The addition of Brock Lesnar’s return to the UFC also helped buyrates, at least that is most likely the case. But in 2016, it was still a UFC card without Conor, Ronda, a Diaz brother or a consensus pound-for-pound leader on the show. Some fans may have felt that it was no longer the “stacked” card it had been when first announced.
As the only legitimate title fight left on the card after Jones was yanked off the show, Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes was given the top billing. Nunes would knock Tate out in the 1st round to win the title.
