3. UFC 205 McGregor vs. Alvarez

The third highest selling PPV of all-time is still only the third highest selling PPV of 2016. UFC 205 was the company’s first ever PPV from Madison Square Garden in New York. There was a lot of hype around the event, and most of it delivered.

Conor McGregor made easy work out of Eddie Alvarez, and fully regained his aura of invisibility that had been lost after tapping out to Nate Diaz. Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson fought to a majority draw, and Joanna Jędrzejczyk reminded everyone who the top woman at 115lbs is.

UFC 205 tied UFC 100 with 1,300,000 buys. The cost of a PPV in 2016 is more than it was in 2009 however, so UFC 205 actually made more money than UFC 100 did.
