There have been many high profile Brazilian fighters who have tested positive for banned substances through the years, including Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida recently. We take a look at a couple of the fighters, fighting tonight at UFC 198, who have failed tests in the past.

Anderson Silva was originally scheduled to be fighting on the UFC 198 card, who himself famously failed an out of competition test, when he fought Nick Diaz in January 2015. The long time Middleweight Champion had never been tested out of competition up to that point in his career which brought immediate questions about the legitimacy of his reign as the Champ.

Silva is just one of several Brazilian fighters through the years but ‘The Spider’ was the highest profile of them all. The circumstances surrounding his test failure were among the most ridiculous in the UFC’s history, as Silva professed the banned substances came from a sexual performance enhancing drug that he had been taking for recreational use.

It is clear that there is a problem with Brazilian fighters and steroids or other banned substances but who is fighting on tonight’s card that has been caught before. Continue to find out…
