UFC is back in China, and it will be headlined by a bantamweight bout featuring Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez. The Fight Night event will be held in Shanghai on December 9.
The 25-year-old Yadong has an overall MMA record of 20-7-1 and 9-2-1 in UFC. One of the recent successes of the professional mixed martial artist is his bout against Ricky Simon, whom he finished with a TKO win early in Round 5. In general, the bantamweight fighter has won four recent five fights but lost against Cory Sandhagen due to a cut Yadong received over his left eye during the UFC Fight Night at the Apex facility in Las Vegas. The Chinese fighter was expected to fight Rob Font in August at UFC 292, but the bout didn’t happen after the former withdrew due to unknown reasons.
Facing Yadong next month is Gutierrez, with a 20-7-1 MMA and 9-2-1 UFC record. The American recently won over Alateng Heili in a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 230 in Las Vegas in October. El Guapo also made a monumental performance at UFC 281 after ending Frankie Edgar’s career with a brutal knee KO in the first round. Gutierrez had an unbeaten winning streak over his eight bouts at the beginning of the year, only to be ended by long-time contender Pedro Munhoz in April.
