The supposed main-event fight of Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards was to happen on December 19 but due to Edwards pulling out of testing positive for COVID, the UFC had to rebook to a later date.
Khamzat still tweeted a sign of respect to his opponent, which he may be willing to wait for the fight.
Fast recovery and hope see you soon. @Leon_edwardsmma 👊🏼 https://t.co/ypLXg2qyKk

Dana White announced that the fight has been rebooked to be the headline on Jan 20 at Fight Island. Although this not yet for sure since anything can happen, the severity of Leon Edwards’ condition is something that should be considered.
Leon Edwards lost approximately 12 pounds in just four days. The pandemic has hit Leon Edwards’s UFC career, worse than any fighter in the roster. Not only has he pulled out of his current fight against Khamzat, but he also lost another potential fight with Tyron Woodley which would have lead to a title fight.
Leon Edwards still tweeted of being optimistic and that he will come back stronger than ever. Although this tweet is older than the announcement of rebooking, it is still nice to see the fighter not even fazed by the tragic events.
Another setback, but when you come from the mud you learn to put everything in perspective. This virus has affected many lives and families much worse than mine. Looking forward to getting this rebooked soon, thank you all for the well wishes
