Action movie star Jean Claude Van Damme has been around for years now. He became a sensation in the 1980’s and 90’s with starring roles in ‘Kickboxer,’ ‘Universal Soldier’ and ‘Bloodsport.’
His flashy kicks and ripped physique were a perfect fit for the directors and filming style during Van Damme’s prime years. That said, he is still acting to this date, recently appearing in ‘The Expendables 3’ movie among others.
Van Damme’s peak was arguably in the massively popular Kickboxer movie, at least with his cult fans. Which is why 2016 could prove to be the year of JCVD’s comeback in to the mainstream.
He’s starring in a remake of the 1989 classic, albeit not the lead role, but he’s working with some big names. Dave Bautista, Cain Velasquez, Gina Carano and Georges St-Pierre are just a few icons starring in ‘Kickboxer: Vengeance.’
Jean Claude Van Damme’s history with fighting has been massively debated over the years. Many fans are under the impression that Van Damme’s athleticism is purely from his ballet training.
In light of his big movie role coming up, we’ve dug through the archives to find some legit kickboxing fights that featured Jean Claude Van Damme…
You’re so dead wrong to say that the ballet was not true. I have his actual autobiography (came out around the first Universal Soldier movie) and it’s in there. Next to his Karate he took ballet classes! You train other muscles and also the stretching of muscles was an advantage for his martial arts.
This shit is weak. Those kicks are lame. A real fighter would have smashed him.
