Former Pound for Pound King, Vasyl Lomachenko just made a statement against Masayoshi Nakatani. Lomachenko showcased the old vintage version of himself that dominated most his past opponents.

Prior to his loss against Lopez, Lomachenko looked invincible, he was simply levels above his competitors. One thing that Lomachenko is great at he doesn’t take easy fights, unlike some boxers that want to preserve their undefeated record. Lomachenko always gets the fight that fans want to see, which is the reason he gained a lot of fans.

Why Lomachenko chose Nakatani as his next opponent was because Nakatani also had loss to Lopez but it wasn’t an easy fight for Lopez. It would make sense that Lomachenko fights the opponent that Lopez had trouble with and give an even better performance and he did it.

According to Lomachenko’s team, in his fight against Lopez, he was injured which led to him not doing what he wanted in the fight. He couldn’t execute the gameplan that well mainly because of his injury. True or False we won’t know, at the end of the day Lopez won the fight fair and square.

In the fight, Lomachenko showed the classic matrix where he uses his footwork and create awkward angles that his opponent couldn’t answer. Nakatani absorbed a lot of punches but showed great durability.

In the fifth round, Lomachenko scored a knockdown but Nakatani was too tough for his own good. Nakatani chose to continue and persevere, it was similar to his last fight where he was knocked down twice but came back in the last parts of the fight.

The ninth round, Nakatani just absorbed too much damage that he became a human punching bag. The referee had no choice but to stop the fight, he was receiving unnecessary damage. Once the referee stepped in, Nakatani’s body gave out as well.

Teofimo Lopez Sr. was impressed with Lomachenko’s performance saying that he might convince his son of a potential rematch. The final say lies with the champion, Teofimo Lopez. Do you think Lomachenko deserves to fight Lopez or he needs another win before getting the fight?
