It’s not long now until the UFC gets the Conor McGregor show on the road again. We are deep in to the hype stages for UFC 202 on August 20, and we’ve seen McGregor changing his training.

‘The Notorious’ was somewhat embarrassed by Nate Diaz at UFC 196. After a heated rivalry that lasted only 11 days, the Irishman was not able to back up his smack talk. It was the bad boy from Stockton, California who would have the last laugh on March 5.

The first dance

McGregor was a heavy betting favourite to win at UFC 196. Diaz coming in on just 11 days notice played a huge role in our predictions, but time was clearly not the biggest factor. Was McGregor over-confident? Perhaps.

Arguably the biggest variable in their first meeting was McGregor’s lack of experience in both grappling and the deep waters. When finally caught clean as he grew tired, ‘The Notorious’ found himself in a lot of trouble.

Changes in training

Bringing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu star Dillon Danis to help with his grappling may prove a big key to defeating Diaz this time around. What of McGregor’s boxing though? It’s all good working on his BJJ, but his striking seemed a little off at UFC 196.
