In short, working in retail is a thankless task. You’ve got to come in for long hours on a low wage and deal with people all day long. Usually, your boss is an idiot too because they’ve been stuck in the system for too long. So the last thing you want to deal with is some fool shoplifting.
Summer Tapasa-Sataraka is a former Best Buy employee in Hawaii. She’s become an unlikely internet star after strongarming a would-be shoplifter. Tapasa refused to let the man just walk away with the item and it cost her her job. But don’t worry because an unlikely shining armor is riding to her rescue.
UFC President Dana White saw the video and is extremely excited by it. He confirmed that he’s going to offer her an undisclosed position within the UFC. Check out the footage below.

The 24-year-old Oahu resident alleges that she saw the man commit two previous robberies, taking expensive portable speakers each time. She decided that she couldn’t just stand back and let him do it again. But trying to prevent a robbery is against Best Buy company policy.
“My first instinct was to just stop him. He’s not going anywhere. He’s not about to do this again. I’m not about to let it happen, especially not on my watch,” Tapasa told Hawaii News Now. I could hear my manager in the back of me saying, ‘Let him go, Summer. It’s okay, let him go. Let him go. They would rather let an item go than us risking our lives, and I totally understand that, I appreciate that.”
“I found out who the guy is, and I mean to reach out to him and bless him.. I want to bless him so that he could stop doing what he’s doing.”
Meanwhile, Dana White was trawling the internet in his spare time and came across the video. The UFC President loves a bit of chaos. First of all, he raved about her actions and promised tickets to UFC 246. Then he promised to give her a job. He posted on Instagram and Twitter:
“This is Summer. She stopped this punk from getting away with stealing from BestBuy in Hawaii. She got fired for this. Flying her in this weekend and giving her tickets to the McGregor vs Cowboy fight. I WANT HER TO WORK FOR ME! Get ready for the best weekend of your life Summer.”
“You’re crazy Best Buy! You shoulda kept her! I’m gonna steal her from you now I’m gonna rock star the sh*t out of her and then we’ll see what happens.”
However, Tapasa might turn down his generosity. As well as the Zuffa position, she’s been approached by a Women’s Football League Association team. The league will debut in 2021.
“Their captain had hit me up on Facebook messenger, told me that she seen the video, and she’s wondering if I’m interested in playing for this football league,” said Tapasa. “I was like – this is crazy!”
But it’s worth pointing out that Best Buy has their policy for a reason. If the guy had a gun then things could have ended very differently. Corporations don’t want their employees getting hurt by crazy robbers. So don’t copy her because the chances of Dana White giving you a job are slim.
