Michael ‘Venom’ Page Won His Second Boxing Match Last Night by KO… Scroll Down For The Full Fight Footage…

Bellator might have unearthed itself a gem. Michael ‘Venom’ Page, the man with one of the baddest nicknames in the sport, has gone and won his second boxing match via KO. The British fighter has the potential to become of the faces of combat sports and adds a 2-0 record to his unbeaten MMA resume.

The 31-year-old London native is one of the stars of martial arts in the UK. A champion kickboxer, karateka, and MMA fighter, he’s got himself a loyal cult following as much for his showmanship, as for his crazy skills.

He fought Michal Clach at York Hall, London, at a boxing event promoted by former heavyweight champion David Haye. This one really didn’t last very long, with the eventual KO coming at the beginning of the second round.

Protected?

Bellator have been accused of protecting Page’s unbeaten record. Let’s face it, he’s faced nobody of note so far in his career. His most recent MMA fight was against David Rickels, an enthusiastic journeyman who just didn’t have enough to test him, and ended up quitting midway through the fight.

This most recent fight against Clach just adds to that narrative. With a record of 1-5, the Polish fighter isn’t exactly Floyd Mayweather. It’s no wonder that Page, with his fighting pedigree, added his weak opponent to his growing list of scalps.

Finish

Page’s boxing style was very similar to his MMA approach. He fought with his hands down, darting in and out with punches, doing a bit of showboating through the fight as well. He caught his opponent with a flurry at the end of the first round, and then, at the beginning of the second, managed to put Clach away, and send him back to obscurity.

The British fighter made his boxing debut last year against Jonathan Castano. Alongside his 2-0 boxing record, he’s 13-0 in MMA. Bellator boss Scott has allowed him to commit to both sports so far. It remains to be seen how long he gets to do this for.

It’s highly likely that his next MMA fight will at least be a severe step up in class. Paul Daley is expected to be his next opponent. Sure, the former UFC fighter isn’t exactly a world-beater, but he’s a recognizable name and a tough fight for anyone.

Star Potential

Right now Page is getting away with building up his record. However, as his profile increases, the standard of opponent that he faces will have to improve as well. Otherwise, fans aren’t going to take him seriously. Ask Khabib Nurmagamedov. He’s got an unbeaten record of 26-0 and is a UFC champion. However, there will always be doubt until he beats an actual top contender.

In the meantime, Page is doing all the right things. He’s flash, exciting, and a charismatic presence. Just look at that Thanos glove. Whoever got that for him deserves a raise. It’s quickly becoming his trademark.
