This will be fight of the year…
Amid a crazy year for the UFC, one name has stood out once again. Conor McGregor made history in 2016, and it all came to a head at UFC 205. Facing Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title, ‘The Notorious’ stunned the world once again.
Having already defeated Jose Aldo for the featherweight belt in December 2015, the outspoken Irishman wanted the second belt. Bashing ‘Scarface’ was an achievement enough on it’s own, but belts in two divisions at once was another story.
McGregor Destroyed Alvarez
Taking out Alvarez like it was a stroll in the park, McGregor embedded his name in the MMA history books. ‘The Notorious’ claimed he would defend both titles in quick succession, but that will not happen now.
The UFC revealed McGregor had been forced to vacate the 145-pound strap, and Aldo was promoted to full champion again. Worry not, because there are still huge fights at 155 pounds, including this guy:
Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
Undefeated and having never lost a round in the UFC, Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the scariest fighters today. ‘The Eagle’ doesn’t just beat his opponents, he completely dominates them.
Against Michael Johnson at UFC 205, Khabib was smashing his foe with elbows on the ground and urging him to give up. Between rounds he was shouting at Dana White ‘”I’m going to smash your boy (Conor McGregor).”

One thing is for sure in the UFC-Nothing is certain. Although the fight is yet to be booked officially, just the thought of these two juggernauts colliding has MMA fans clamouring online.
