Khabib Nurmagamedov Really Does Not Like Conor McGregor… He’s Explained to Media Why He Has No Respect for the Former Double Champion…
There probably isn’t a scarier champion in the UFC right now than Khabib Nurmagamedov. The Dagestani fighter just has an aura about him that makes him seem ice-cold. With his unbeaten record of 27-0 combined with his brutally dominant style, ‘The Eagle’ is an absolute beast.
His rivalry with Conor McGregor is infamous at this point. At the moment both men are currently suspended by Nevada Athletic Commission, although ‘The Notorious’ will be eligible to return at the end of this month. Their rivalry has seen brawls, broken bus windows, nights spent in jail, and a lot of very nasty trash talk.
Now Khabib has opened up about why exactly he still has no respect for the Irishman. Most fighters will put their beef to one side after stepping into a ring or cage with each other, but this one is still rumbling on. Check out the video below.

Desperate
In Khabib’s eyes, McGregor is simply desperate for attention so that he can stay relevant, even though he is no longer a champion. That would explain why he pretended for most of a week that he had retired when that just obviously was not the case.
“He wants to always be in the headlines,” said Khabib (translation, transcript via RT Sport). “If you’ve noticed, after each UFC event, [he] makes comments. He praises those who win, or insults the others. This is his way of self-promotion, that’s how he makes headlines all the time. He knows what he’s doing.
“And I have no problem with that, he can say whatever he wants. But inside the cage he didn’t say anything. When I was hitting him in the face with my elbows and knees, he did not say anything. When I said ‘Let’s talk,’ he didn’t respond. And now, when he is thousands of kilometers away, he is saying things.
Lowlife
Although he called McGregor a ‘rapist’ earlier in the week, Khabib took a step back from that, choosing to use the adjective ‘lowlife’ instead. Still, whatever he says, it’s clear that he has very little time for his Irish nemesis. He said:
“That just shows what kind of lowlife he really is. When he was on the floor he didn’t speak to me, and that is what really matters.”
Ouch.
Rivalry
This rivalry shows no signs of dissipating, and it escalated to new nasty extremes earlier in the week when McGregor referred to Khabib’s wife as a ‘goat under a towel.’ As a devout Muslim, the UFC lightweight champion did not appreciate that and responded by calling McGregor a rapist.
That is a direct reference to allegations of sexual assault that are currently being levelled at the Irishman in his home city of Dublin. Many actually believed that if he was actually retired it was because of these accusations. However, it seems that he is already set to unretire again.
