Boxing champion vs. bareknuckle boxing champion…
Especially in combat sports, when two world collide it gets a lot of attention. Certainly in terms of the modern game, people seem to be obsessed with boxing vs. MMA. We have Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor to thank for that.
Another interesting kind of crossover is from or to the world of bareknuckle boxing. Although in most countries BKB is still not a legal pursuit, it is starting to expand rapidly. Sitting at the top of the bloody heap of bareknuckle boxers is Bobby Gunn.
Bobby Gunn
Reportedly having a BKB record of 71-0, Bobby Gunn is widely regarded as the best in the sport. During a fight with Jay Z’s former bodyguard, no seriously, Gunn got his name out there, as well as the pursuit of BKB.
Also a professional boxer, Gunn was born in to an Irish travelling family in Ontario, Canada. Across the globe, this guy has a reputation for being harder than a coffin nail.
Fight With Roy Jones Jr. Video Below
Former six-weight and five-time world boxing champion Roy Jones Jr. still fights on. Although 50 years of age now, RJJ still has some good speed in his hands. Although his form and level of competition has of course dropped, it’s still great fun to watch Jones Jr. fight.
Here’s where RJJ and Gunn become connected. Some time in the past a rivalry between the two was born. Although in good nature, the two were scheduled to fight some years back, but it never happened.
Until now, that is. Watch the video on the Youtube player below:

What’s Next??
Obviously Jones Jr. isn’t going to be around for much longer as a boxer. He recently hinted that 2017 would be his last year of boxing. With the TKO win against Gunn, RJJ won the vacant WBF cruiserweight title.
50 years old and still winning gold, what a guy!
