It’s Artem Lobov’s World And We’re Just Living In It… In The Footage Below You Can See Him Training With Conor McGregor… He’s Competitive At Least…

According to Twitter – if you look in the right place – Artem Lobov is the greatest fighter of all time. At the time of writing, there are 7.53 billion people on the planet. The Russian Hammer has miraculously only been defeated by 15 of those. That’s just indisputable.

Lobov recently dropped his third UFC loss in a row, as he generously allowed other fighters to progress in their careers, knowing that he has the job security of being Conor McGregor’s training partner. He also allowed his opponent Michael Johnson to keep the 20% fine he was hit with after missing weight. Lobov noted that Johnson was a last minute replacement and in a seriously great GOAT move, he refused to accept it.

John Kavanagh posted a passionate and obviously unnecessary defence of this legendary fighter’s capabilities. He also released archive footage of the GOAT sparring Conor McGregor in order to prove that he can cope with the best. Watch it below and see what you think.

Rare Breed

In Kavanagh’s eyes, Lobov is a special fighter. He is the type that grafts and works hard, even if on the surface they might not have exceptional talent. He wrote a lengthy Facebook post defending his fighter:

“Artem is a rare breed of fighter. A fighters’ fighter. I’ve had conversations with top brass in the top organisations and they tell me it doesn’t matter who your guys fight, just get them winning records and we’ll take them on.That’s all that matters and has been commonplace in professional boxing for a long long time.

Get them to 12-0 and we’ll sign them. That’s not Artem’s approach. Every fight was the toughest fight he could possibly find. Often times we would argue about that as I would try and guide him a little bit. He did not want to know. It is absolutely not the most efficient approach if you want to get to the ‘big organisations’. It’s one I’ve learned from but it’s also one that is impossible not to respect.”

Hardcore

There is absolutely no doubt that the GOAT is tough. As you can see from the footage above, he is well able to hang with McGregor, incredibly using his head to attack McGregor’s hands. Ok, he gets punched quite a few times, and ends up on the ground underneath a 23-year-old, pre-UFC ‘Notorious’.

We’re not exactly sure what Kavanagh was trying to prove with this footage unless it’s to show that without Lobov’s selfless determination to boost Conor McGregor’s confidence, he’d never have been a double UFC champion? We’re going with that hypothesis.

What Next?

Lobov has said that if the UFC cuts Khabib’s teammate Zubaira Tukhagov, they’ll have to cut him too because he wants to fight him anywhere and in any place. Losing to Johnson might have been part of his brilliant revenge strategy to end a way which started with him headbutting Khabib’s hand. As you can see above.

It remains to be seen whether or not the UFC will cut Lobov, after dropping five losses in the promotion, with only two wins. Maybe they’ll just keep him around for Tukhagov’s protection.
