UFC 278 is going down on the 20th of August 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The event is being headlined by Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards, who will be competing for the welterweight world championship. The event also features a crazy exciting fight between Paulo Costa and Luke Rockhold. Let’s look at what fights you should bet on to maximize your winnings. Remember, you can bet here on all UFC 278 fights!
1. Paulo Costa Vs. Luke Rockhold
If you want a sure bet, place some cash on Paulo Costa to beat Luke Rockhold. Rockhold hasn’t won a fight since 2017! He is no longer the same fighter since Bisping crushed him in 2016 and took away his middleweight title.
Paulo Costa hasn’t been in good form recently either! The jacked Brazilian fighter is also coming off two losses, and he did not look that good in his last performance against the strong Italian, Marvin Vettori. However, we expect the old Costa to return in this fight and show his brutal knockout power. Costa started his UFC career, going 5-0 but was ultimately stopped by Adesanya in their title fight. We believe Costa will prove far too strong and explosive for Rockhold.
If you want to boost your winnings, bet on Paulo Costa to knock Luke Rockhold out. We don’t expect this fight to last long and expect the Brazilian monster to steamroll Rockhold and send him into retirement.
Rockhold has a very weak chin, and even a glancing blow from Paulo Costa could knock him out. Rockhold really has no business fighting elite UFC talent anymore. He is coming off two nasty KO losses and hasn’t looked good since 2015.
2. Kamaru Usman Vs. Leon Edwards
Kamaru Usman beat Leon Edwards way back in 2015, and we expect him to do it again. Granted, Leon Edwards has improved a lot since 2015, when he had only been a pro for just 4 years. However, Usman hasn’t just spent those 7 years on the couch. He has transformed himself into one of the best mixed martial artists on the planet.
Kamaru Usman has a perfect UFC record at 15-0 and has successfully defended his welterweight championship 5 times. He is an incredibly dominant fighter who can do it all. Usman started off as a pure wrestler but has become a well-rounded fighting machine. He now possesses quick hands and some frightening power. The punch he knocked out Masvidal with was insane!
While Leon Edwards is a good fighter, he is not good enough to hand Usman his first UFC loss. We expect Usman to win easily and potentially score a knockout. Betting on Usman to win is a very safe pick!
3. Jose Aldo Vs. Merab Dvalishvili
Jose Aldo is a slight underdog against the tough and skilled Georgian Merab Dvalishvili. Dvalishvili is on a 7 fight UFC winning streak, and many critics are picking him to be the next champion. However, he has to get past a legendary Brazilian and former multiple-time champion Jose Aldo.
We think Merab Dvalishvili has bitten off more than he can chew in this fight. Jose Aldo has returned to form and is riding a 3 fight win streak. He looks like he is getting back to his former self and starting to look like 2013 Aldo. The Brazilian is still in his prime physically, but at 35, this is his last shot at making a title run.
We believe Merab Dvalishvili will struggle to takedown Aldo and the Brazilian will unleash some nasty kickboxing on the Georgian. We expect Aldo to win on points after putting on a vintage master class. This bet is a little risky but worth it based on the payouts!
4. Alexander Romanov Vs. Marcin Tybura
Alexander Romanov is beating Marcin Tybura, and there is nothing the Polish fighter can do about it! Romanov has an amazing 16-0 record and some incredible wrestling skills. He grew up wrestling in Moldova and was on the national team for a number of years. We expect him to score many crucial takedowns against Marcin Tybura.
Tybura is no walkover and has some impressive wins over Stefan Struve, Ben Rothwell, and Greg Hardy. However, we think Romanov is a serious title contender and will blow right past the Polish heavyweight. Expect Romanov to finish this fight either by TKO or a submission. Romanov’s speed and wrestling ability will be the keys to victory for him in this fight.
5. Amir Albazi Vs. Francisco Figueiredo
We are betting big on Amir Albazi to beat Francisco Figueiredo. Amir Albazi will have no problems slicing through the Brazilian’s leaky defense. Currently, Figueiredo has 2.6 strikes per minute and only lands just under 2 of his own strikes per minute. The Brazilian is going to struggle with the athleticism and pace of Albazi.
Albazi also has fantastic grappling and wrestling skills. We expect Albazi to score some nice takedowns and unleash some hellish ground and pound. Then once Figueiredo is tired, we could see him getting submitted.
Albazi is a big favorite in this fight, so you have to ramp up your stake size if you want to win lots of cash. But with Albazi stuffing almost 80% of takedowns and evading 60% of his opponent’s strikes, this bet is a lock!
