4. Gray Maynard Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale

Gray Maynard came as close as one can come to winning a UFC championship without actually winning it at UFC 125, when he and then-champion Frankie Edgar fought to a draw.  Ever since that fight things have fallen apart for Maynard, who has now gone 1W-5L since that first fight with Edgar.  You can catch him next fighting on the undercard of the Ultimate Fighter season 23 finale card.

His first official fight with the UFC after appearing on season 5 of the Ultimate Fighter, was on June 23rd 2007.  Maynard took down his opponent (Rob Emerson) so viciously it caused the referee to jump in and end the fight, only he also hit his own head and knocked himself out in the process.  Knocking himself out on his debut earns Maynard a spot on this list.

Maynard followed this fight with 8 straight wins to earn a lightweight title shot.
