6. Stephan Bonnar vs. Forrest Griffin Ultimate Fighter Season 1 Finale
This bout marks the first time Joe Rogan mentioned that a fight was the best he’d ever seen. There would be many more for Joe however.
At the time this really was one of the best fights ever, and it just so happened to occur live on Spike TV, right when the UFC needed it to. The Ultimate Fighter turned the fortunes of the UFC around and many credit the success of this fight for that.
Griffin and Bonnar fought like two guys whose entire careers depended on winning that bout. Neither man backed down, each man pushing forward all 3 rounds. It was amazing.
Griffin would earn the decision victory, causing Bonnar to just collapse in the middle of the cage. You really felt for the guy, he gave everything he had in that fight. Dana White, perhaps gleaming that now his fledgling company might one day be sold for billions, offered Bonnar the same contract as Griffin anyway.
The fight would later be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
