1. Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman UFC 168

You would be hard-pressed to find any MMA fan that didn’t feel like they had been punched in the gut when this happened.

Silva vs. Weidman 1 ended when Weidman took advantage of Silva’s clowning around in the octogon. Silva has made a habit of taunting his opponents and trying to encourage them to be more aggressive. He was pretending like he was on “wobbly legs” after nearly being clipped by Weidman, and then Weidman turned the performance into reality by landing a shot to his chin.

Some called the win a fluke, and many expected Silva to reclaim his throne in the rematch. Something far worse happened in the second fight however. Weidman checked a leg kick by Silva and the impact shattered Anderson’s leg. Silva was screaming in agony on the ground and almost everyone had to think they had just witnessed the end of his career.

To his credit Silva came back however, and would defeat Nick Diaz 13 months after the injury. The fight was later over-turned to a no-contest after it had been revealed Silva failed a drug test.
