Cyborg is a Career Ender

Gina Carano was the face of women’s mixed martial arts, then she fought Cyborg, and now she stars in B-movies for a living. She has never fought again.

Carano was a highly touted women’s mixed martial artist at a time when women’s MMA existed only outside of the UFC’s large spotlight. Dana White couldn’t have been less interested in adding women’s divisions, even at one time stating that you would never see women in the UFC. He would later have to admit he was wrong when Ronda Rousey defeated Liz Cartouche in the inaugural women’s bout in the company.

Gina Carano, in addition to being a great martial artist, was also smoking hot, which helped her marketability. She won her first 7 fights, including 4 straight in EliteXC. When Strikeforce signed for her to meet Cyborg it was the first time two women faced each other in the main event of a major show. While Carano would get a brief flurry of offence, this fight was not close. Cyborg looked like an animal that was just mauling this poor girl.

Despite only being 27 at the time of her loss, Carano has never returned to MMA. That’s what Cyborg does to opponents. There is a very good chance that if Cyborg and Ronda ever meet that it is the last time we ever see Ronda Rousey fight.
