UFC 220 saw a number of fighters coming away considerably more sore and swollen than before. Even some of the winners wore the scars of their battle in the UFC 220 aftermath…

UFC 220 was a fantastic event. Although UFC president Dana White probably doesn’t think so, the pay-per-view from Boston had it all. Some harrowing knockouts, exciting fights and of course titles on the line.

Featured in the main event was a heavyweight pairing that had everyone talking. Prior to the night, heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou had been heavily favoured over Stipe Miocic.

Both in the betting lines and the UFC’s promotional material, Francis Ngannou was getting a lot of shine. Stipe Miocic, the guy everyone seemed to have forgotten, made a point of winning every round of their 25-minute slugfest.

The physical aftermath of UFC 220 was not limited to just some of the losing fighters. First off, check out Stipe sporting what a nasty swelling under his eye, courtesy of the powerful Ngannou:

Elsewhere on the card was a featherweight tilt between Julio Arce and Dan Ige, where the most damage of UFC 220 was sustained. This was a gruelling affair for Ige, who was outstruck brutally for three hard rounds.

Arce displayed some high level striking and footwork, Ige looks to have suffered a broken nose if the following before and after pic is anything to go by. The ‘badger effect’ is in full swing here:

During the co-main event of the evening, Daniel Cormier completely steamrolled Volkan Oezdemir. Although they only fought into the second round, ‘DC’ was able to inflict some punishment in that short time.

After all was said and done, the light-heavyweight title remained with the AKA (American Kickboxing Acadamy) captain. Cormier got on the grind, and Volkan simply couldn’t take the heat.

Here’s a pic Volkan posted on Instagram with a message conveying his respect for the champ:

Daniel Cormier might have whooped Volkan Oezdemir like he owed him money, but he always shows respect after the fight is done…

Rory MacDonald might have won the title against Douglas Lima at Bellator 192, but it wasn’t without cost. Check out this gnarly lump on Rory Mac’s leg:
