Colby Covington has gone out of his way to become the UFC’s most hated fighter, and he’s also been a vocal supporter of President Trump.
“The haters are saying I’m the underdog,” Covington told the media prior to his interim title fight with Rafael dos Anjos last year. “You know who else was the underdog? The ruler of our nation Donald Trump. And just like Trump I’m gonna grab these p—— and put them in their place.”
Covington also echoed Trump by saying he was going to, “make the welterweight division great again,” and after winning the interim belt he vowed to meet President Trump personally.
“I’m going to do what a real American should do. I’m bringing this belt to the White House, and I’m putting it on Donald Trump’s desk,” Covington declared.
Despite Covington’s toxic reputation, Dana White arranged a meeting between the two, with Trump sporting a broad smile as he posed with ‘Chaos’ for a photo in the Oval Office with the belt over his shoulder.
