Karo Parisyan vs. Diego Sanchez
Karo Parisyan and Diego Sanchez were both in their prime when they met at UFC Fight Night 6 in what would prove to be a classic welterweight clash.
At that time Sanchez was a perfect 15-0 in his MMA career, while Parisyan had racked up five wins in a row to take his record to 15-3.
According to Parisyan years later, he had been to the dentist just a week before the fight complaining that one of his teeth felt lose, leading to him being warned to make sure he kept his gumshield in at all times.
However, Paryisyan’s cornerman Tito Ortiz forgot to put his mouthpiece back in prior to the final round, and somehow the fight continued without anyone noticing.
That proved costly for Parisyan as in the final stages of the fight Sanchez managed to land a big knee to his face that appeared to knock out one of his teeth – though ‘The Heat’ has since claimed it was just a veneer.
Nevertheless, Sanchez has said that it was one of the most memorable moments of his career and he would go on to close the round out strong with ground and pound to earn a unanimous decision victory.
