Paulie Malignaggi Has Issued a Brutal Response to Conor McGregor Tearing Him Apart on Instagram… He’s Made Some Very Good Points Here Too…
It’s worth remembering that Paulie Malignaggi is no slouch when it comes to boxing. Sure, his career might have petered out a little bit in the end, but the man is a multi-millionaire and a former champion in two different weight classes. The “Magic Man” was definitely a tough challenge for everybody he faced. He also has a stable career as an analyst and commentator.
However, if you listened to Conor McGregor you would think that he did Malignaggi favour by releasing edited footage of the New York native being dropped when he came to help the Irishman prepare for the Floyd Mayweather fight. ‘The Notorious’ released an Instagram post where he told Malignaggi – and Khabib Nurmagamedov – to stop b*thcing. Many many times.
Malignaggi has now responded to McGregor and he has no time for the Irishman’s rambling nonsense. You can read the former WBA and IBF Champion’s comments below.
Let’s Fight
Malignaggi might not have fought since 2017, but he’s still just 38 and might have a bit left in the tank. He’s ready to put McGregor back in his box and told the Irishman to put his money where his mouth is. Speaking to Off the Brawl, he said:
“[Eddie] Hearn can easily put the fight together, [Al] Haymon can easily put the fight together, Showtime have said they’d be interested in it – I don’t think it’s a no-brainer at this point. I don’t think it’d any secret at this point – there’s money in the fight.
“In boxing I’d be interested in it – I’d love to do a ‘winner takes all’ fight just so he can go for free but I don’t think he’d ever agree to that. I would love to fight Conor McGregor in a ‘winner takes all’ fight in a boxing match, I would absolutely love it because I would beat him to a pulp, I would hospitalise him and I’d make him go home broke too.”
Fraud
Malignaggi believes that McGregor is a fraud and that he will leave no meaningful legacy behind him. In a very harsh statement he said:
“I think Conor knows his time is coming to an end. He has become the Pinata of combat sports, just like I predicted he would once he reached this level. He just wasn’t going to be able to hack it.
“A legacy is created over longevity and Conor McGregor has had no longevity – he’s just the punching bag of combat sports. So believe me, when Conor McGregor is gone and irrelevant in the next couple of years and I will make sure, in my time, that everybody knows how overrated he was and I will destroy whatever legacy he thought he was going to make because he’s a con-artist and I’ve been slowly uncovering how much of a con-artist he is.”
Who Knows?
While at the moment it seems unlikely that McGregor is going to step into a boxing ring again, stranger things have happened. The Irishman likes making money, and there’s little doubt that Malignaggi would be a lucrative opponent. However, if he wants to be remembered for the right reasons he needs to get his career back on track.
McGregor is a phenomenal talent and a former two-division champion for a reason. He struggles against a certain style of fighting, but he’s still elite. It’s just time that he remembers it and gets focused.
