MMA vs Boxing!

During an insane twist of events starting in 2015, and developing still, boxing’s best vs. the biggest name in MMA is happening. Yes, we are talking Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor on August 26.

Although many fans would love to see this fight in the UFC octagon, that isn’t happening. Instead, ‘The Notorious’ will venture for the first time to the boxing ring, and he’ll be fighting a modern day great in his debut.

Unsurprisingly, everyone is talking about this fight. Tons of well known MMA fighters have asked to be on the card, and now boxers are speaking out too.

Adrien Broner Wants Piece of Nate Diaz

Often controversial and outspoken, Adrian Broner remains in the public eye both in and out of the ring. Having been stripped of the WBA super-lightweight title for missing weight before the Ashley Theophane fight, Broner has won three straight nonetheless since 2015.

Scehduled to compete against Mikey Garcia on July 29, Broner says he wants a slice of Nate Diaz on the Mayweather-McGregor card. Speaking with TMZ, via BloodyElbow.com, AB said the following about Diaz:

Broner on Diaz and Mayweather vs. McGregor

“Depending on the punishment I take (in) this fight … if I come out unmarked like I usually do, I’d be willing to fight on Floyd’s undercard against Nate Diaz. I’m just talking. But if we can make it happen, let’s do it though.”

“It’s a huge fight. I think it’s going to be a very entertaining fight. McGregor, he’s won most of his fights standing up, punching. If you ask me, he’s got a punchers chance. I’m happy for Floyd Mayweather. They got the job done. I think it’s gonna be a more competitive fight than what people think.”

“He’s got a puncher’s chance. I’m a boxer. Once you step in that ring, everybody is just one punch away from from a knockout. So I always say he’s got a puncher’s chance. But in all reality, Floyd’s gonna kick his ass.”

Regarding all the talk of MMA vs. Boxing on the MayMac card, the next interview will likely prove very disappointing for those hopeful UFC/boxing stars:

Mayweather CEO Responds

According to Mayweather promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, there will be only one MMA fighter competing at the T-Mobile Arena on August 26:

“Yes, we are handling all the matchmaking, and we are going to have a phenomenal undercard. I can guarantee you that,” Leonard Ellerbe of Mayweather promotions said at the MMA Hour.

“This will be 100% pure boxers in the show.”

Sorry Adrien, you might have to find a different date and venue for your Diaz challenge. Although, considering his friendship with Mayweather, could Broner talk his way on to the card?
