Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva

As per LowKickMMA, Anderson Silva will require gall bladder surgery:

Apparently Silva has been suffering abdominal pains that may even require him to undergo gall bladder surgery.

The UFC’s medical consultant, Jeff Davidson, commented on the situation:

“Anderson developed abdominal discomfort [Monday and] further evaluation today is consistent with acute cholecystitis,” Davidson said Tuesday. “He will be seen by a surgeon today for possible surgery.”

Here’s the UFC website’s statement on UFC 198 and Anderson Silva’s former opponent Uriah Hall:

The homecoming fight of Anderson Silva in Curitiba will not be taking place this weekend, as the former middleweight champion has been forced off Saturday’s UFC 198 card due to an illness.

The UFC is currently exploring potential replacements to face Silva’s opponent, Uriah Hall, but it is not certain whether he will remain on the card or not.
