Dana White is not happy…
After an eventful event this past weekend, the world of mixed martial arts is again buzzing. Following a long break between UFC shows, the promotion returned to New York for a title fight pay-per-view.
Headlining UFC 210 were light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and heavy-handed knockout artist Anthony Johnson. With so many other well known fighters on the card, it was somewhat surprising to see reporters going right back to the topic of McGregor vs. Mayweather in the post-fight presser.
The Money Fight
Setting the current trend in the sport, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have everyone talking. One particular subject that’s been thrown around a lot is the proposed purse split for the boxing match.
Last week, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle Jeff made a startling claim. JM claimed the UFC were demanding 80% of McGregor’s purse to fight Mayweather due to the contractual agreement. The UFC lightweight champ has remained quiet, but Dana White most certainly has not.
White Goes Dark
Speaking during the UFC 210 post-fight press conference, White had some damning words for Mayweather’s camp and Bob Arum:
“What I would like to clarify is all the sh*t about the 80 f*cking 20 split. Jeff Mayweather? Come on, Jeff. Me and Jeff go way back. Jeff, are you the spokesman now for f*cking team Mayweather? And Bob Arum? You piece of sh*t? F*ck you too.”
“What do they know about this fight? You know what they know about this fight? Nothing. Believe me, we have had preliminary talks with Conor and I’m in a good place with Conor. We’re gonna meet in New York when he has his baby.”
Continuing on the subject of Conor vs. Floyd, White say that he himself has been negotiating with Mayweather:
“Conor is having a baby any day now. After Conor has his baby, Conor and I are going to meet in New York. We’re not close to a deal. I see this fight happening. Conor wants it and Floyd wants it. I’ve said many times, Conor has done a lot. He’s stepped up for the big fights for this company, for me and for Lorenzo Fertitta. I can’t deny him this fight.”
“Mayweather’s team would have to deal with Showtime. I’m dealing with my side, I’ll let them deal with their side. I’ve been talking to Mayweather’s team for a while now.”
