Two MMA promoters have closed their doors for the now free agent, Yoel Romero. According to Ariel Helwani, Bellator and PFL are not interested in taking up Romero to add to their roster.

After UFC released Romero from his contract, it was surprising that other MMA promoters don’t want him. It may because of Romero’s high pay that makes him not being wanted by other promoters.
There are only 2 major MMA promoters that have not yet gotten their say which both are from Asia. RIZIN and ONE FC have not yet gotten their say.
Fortunately for Romero, BKFC Founder David Feldman is really interested in taking him up. BKFC is focused on bare-knuckle boxing where Romero’s wrestling background cannot be used.
“We are very interested. How could we not be? He has BKFC written all over him,” Feldman said
BKFC is known for giving fighters huge pay. Former UFC fighter, Artem Lobov switched to BKFC due to higher pay, but the sport usually gives fighters huge cuts and scar tissue which may lead to excessive bleeding.
Another famous UFC female fighter, Paige Vanzant also signed with BKFC which was really surprising considering Vanzant’s market is mostly her looks and Instagram followers.
Romero has fought for the title four times but failed every time. He has lost the last four of five times and is 44 years old. In Romero’s defense, he is still a top contender of the division and his athleticism is still in top shape. He also only lost to either a champion or a title contender.
It was pretty shocking considering Romero still had fights left in his contracts but UFC released him. Most of his fights are guaranteed banger except his last fight against Adesanya where he fought without urgency.
Even though BKFC is interested, the decision lies with Romero if he wants to sign. He cannot use his wrestling and no flying knees. The huge risk of cuts and breaking your knuckles is also in the fight. It is worth noting that Romero suffered a broken orbital against his fight with Whittaker.
Romero is also interested in taking a boxing match with Jake Paul as it guarantees a big day due to Paul’s popularity. His fellow Cuban friend, Jorge Masvidal tried calling out Jake Paul to fight Yoel Romero. Romero then retweeted back saying he also agrees to the matchmaking.

Jake Paul has not yet commented whether he wants to fight Romero. As of this moment, Paul wants the more popular names like Mcgregor or Danis where he can also outsize.
