No, just please, no…

Since knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 207, Amanda Nunes has solidified her place at the top of the food chain. Women’s bantamweight has finally caught up to their formerly dominant ruler, and Nunes is the new breed of killer.

Having dominated Miesha Tate to win the belt, and taken out Germaine De Randamie and many others, Nunes is scheduled to fight Vaelntina Shevchenko tonight. The UFC 213 main event is a rematch of their 2016 bout, which the Brazilian won by decision.

Sadly, and completely out of the blue, news has now emerged that threatens the pay-per-view main event tonight.

Amanda Nunes is Currently in Hospital

Yep, you read that correctly, ‘The Lioness’ is currently sick in hospital, and tonight’s main event with ‘The Bullet’ is under fire. Putting a big title bout in jeopardy on such short notice is bad news for everyone involved.
UPDATE: It’s now been confirmed the fight is off:

Here’s Ariel Helwani’s scoop on the situation:

Terrible Times

Words cannot describe the reaction online, as fans are seriously gutted about the card’s likely change of main event. Here’s Nunes telling Rolling Stone Magazine how she planned on changing the division for good:

“I’m the champion and I’m the best in the world,” Nunes tells Rolling Stone. “I cleaned [out] this division. I beat this girl [Shevchenko] already. I beat her already, and I’m going to do it again.”

“I beat her already and nothing is (going to) change,” Nunes says. “The only thing that’s going to change is this is going to be over. I will beat her clean. If I can knock her out, submit her or go five rounds, I will clean this and get over this.”

“After this fight everything can happen,” Nunes says. “I’ve cleaned out the (Women’s Bantamweight) division already. I beat all the top (fighters) before I got the belt. Then when I got the belt, I beat the best one. After the next fight, for sure I’m going to try to do something else. Maybe go down, (maybe) go up.”
