The Notorious Has Sealed a Plea Agreement During a Court Session in New York Today…

Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor appeared in court today in Brooklyn, New York, in relation to his crazy bus attack back in April, in the build-up to UFC 223. McGregor and fellow SBG Ireland fighter Cian Cowley were both up on charges of criminal mischief and criminal assault.

Although he could technically have been hit with serious jail time, it was never likely. McGregor isn’t me or you. He’s got millions in the bank and can afford the best legal representatives in the world. As it stands his plea agreement includes community service, anger management, as well as a heavy fine.

For MMA fans the most important matter is whether or not he can fight in the US or not. The answer is yes. All felony counts were dismissed. McGregor pleaded guilty to a single violation of disorderly conduct and will not receive a criminal record. He will be able to make his long-awaited return and you can surely expect an announcement on that soon.

Arrival

McGregor arrived in court about 9 am EST. He was supported by his manager Audie Attar, personal tailor and business partner David August, as well as Cian Cowley. The court session was overseen by Judge Raymond Rodriguez. Cowley pleaded guilty to the same charge as McGregor.

The Notorious declined to make a statement in the court. He agreed to terms laid out. He must take part in a 1-3 Anger Management Program, 5 days of community service, and was hit with three orders of protection. The orders of protection were against Ray Borg, Michael Chiesa and Jason Ledvetter (A UFC employee).

Money Talks

As well as the above, McGregor has to pay restitution for the bus that he damaged at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn. He infamously threw a dolly through the window of a media bus carrying Khabib Nurmagamedov. Chiesa and Borg were forced to withdraw after suffering glass-related lacerations to their faces and eyes.

He’s also set to face civil action by Chiesa in the future. ‘The Maverick’ has stated that this action has been suggested to him by his legal representatives, so McGregor isn’t out of the woods just yet. It’s literally all about paying off everybody at this point. McGregor’s ability to get a US visa has not been affected by today’s proceedings. It’s finally all over and we can move on with our lives.

Khabib Time

It’s highly likely that McGregor will be fighting Khabib Nurmagamedov later this year. He tweeted and deleted a cryptic message saying: “Calgary, Canada.” Newsflash: Khabib is currently in Calgary, Canada. Anyone good at MMA math is going to get excited by that. Is McGregor going there next to face off with the champion?

We can only speculate. But don’t be surprised if the fight is announced this weekend. The UFC is known to be aiming for later this year, with October or November in the UFC’s mind. Las Vegas will be the setting. We cannot wait.
