Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagamedov Will Fight For the UFC Lightweight Title in October…
It’s officially on. Conor McGregor is set to make his long-anticipated comeback against UFC lightweight champion and arch-nemesis Khabib Nurmagamedov. The pair will fight at UFC 229, in Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena on October 6. The most anticipated potential fight of the year is finally signed.
The two men seemed to be on a collision course as they both rose through the ranks of the world’s biggest MMA promotion. Nurmagamedov has an incredible career record of 26-0. He’s one of the most feared fighters on the roster. Meanwhile, McGregor is a combat sports phenomenon. Now that Floyd Mayweather has retired, the Notorious is the most lucrative fighter on the planet.
UFC President Dana White finally broke the news to assembled media. While there have been difficulties in getting Nurmagamedov to sign on the dotted line, because of disagreements with his contract, the deal has been done. It’s happening. Are you excited? I’m insanely excited.

This is Real
Folks, this is absolutely real news. McGregor is coming back and is set to fight for the title that he was stripped of back in April, due to inactivity. The Irishman fought once in 2017, but crossed codes to boxing. He took on Floyd Mayweather in a very lucrative exhibition which will basically guarantee him a record-breaking appearance fee for this upcoming fight.
His rivalry with Khabib became toxic after he threw a dolly through the window of a bus at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center, in the run-up to UFC 223. This occurred after the Eagle and his team intimidated McGregor’s training partner, Artem Lobov. It’s been simmering and now it’s set to go off.

Rivalry
Expect to see lots of bus attack-related footage over the next couple of months. The build-up to this one will be massive and it’s widely expected to be a record-breaking card for the UFC in terms of pay-per-views. McGregor is still relevant, there’s absolutely no denying that. He’s the only superstar in the company.
That doesn’t mean that Nurmagamedov can’t beat him. On the contrary, it will be absolutely fascinating to see how the betting companies look at this one. Many analysts believe that the Russian is the Irishman’s kryptonite. His oppressive, brutal top game has taken out elite strikers in the form of Edson Barboza and Michael Johnson.
I’m not fighting on that show fuk the @ufc

Major Event
A McGregor event is a massive event. Regardless of Khabib’s skill, he’s going to have to deal with psychological warfare like nothing he has faced before. How many of McGregor’s opponents were broken before they even stepped on the mats? That’s not saying Nurmagamedov will break. Just that it will be very interesting to watch.
Meanwhile, Nate Diaz has reacted and he’s not happy. You can see the tweet above saying that he’s refusing to fight on the same card. He must be mistaken because he’ll be fighting at UFC 230 instead of UFC 229, so it’s really difficult to see what his problem is.
Anyway, who cares about Nate Diaz right now. Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagamedov are fighting. That’s all that matters.
