Phil Stroffolino (175lbs) vs. Frank Amalfitano (290lbs) full fight video

This is a rarely seen video of HooknShoot’s first ever tournament final. It had no rules or weight classes, and took place in 1997. Stroffolino, a 175 pound computer programmer, entered as the smallest man in the one night tourney. He fought five times throughout the event.

This, the final for the title of the ‘absolute’ tournament, shows that size can often be negated by skill, cunning, precision and timing. His opponent, an off duty cop from Detroit, was later investigated many times for using excessive force on the job.

Fighters that would later become stars would also fight under the HooknShoot banner, including former UFC heavyweight champions Frank Mir, Ian Freeman, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Chris Lytle, Yves Edwards and many more.

There were some more great fights to watch from this legendary tournament, including the eventual winner Phil Stroffolino’s FOUR other rousing efforts.
