While Conor McGregor’s adoring fans are awaiting news on the return of Featherweight King, after a short exile lasting just two months, CM Punk’s fans have been waiting for 18 months already, for the debut of the former pro wrestling superstar.
McGregor has been dominating almost every headline in MMA, if not attached in some way, since his very public dispute with the UFC saw him removed from the UFC 200 card. With speculation surrounding a super-fight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has stole a lot of the headlines in recent days, it appears as though the UFC are close to announcing the ‘Notorious’ next bout in the UFC.
After appearing on the Dan Patrick Show, Dana White hinted at McGregor returning to fight on the UFC 202 card, set to take place on the 20th August. Fighting so soon to the huge 200 card would suggest that McGregor will not be defending his belt, which was first suggested by Dana during the controversy. It means that the most likely opponent will be Nate Diaz for the rematch of the historic UFC 196 fight.
It now appears as though, wrestling legend CM Punk will be fighting on the same card as the Dublin native, as his likely opponent spoke out about a possible date for the match-up. Click below for further details.
