With UFC 198 this coming Saturday headlined by Fabricio Werdum’s first defence of his Heavyweight Title, we take a look at how the Brazilian won the belt. Werdum, who is now on a six fight win streak will go toe to toe with Stipe Miocic in the Main Event on Saturday and will be looking to perform like he did in his previous fight against then Champion Cain Velasquez.

In June of last year reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion, Cain Velasquez finally defended his belt in a hotly anticipated bout against the Interim Champion Fabricio Werdum. The bout which was originally scheduled for UFC 180, saw the Champ withdraw due to injury and Fabricio Werdum beat Mark Hunt to pick up the Interim strap.

When June finally came around, Velasquez and Werdum threw down in a shocking one sided affair in Mexcio City. Many expected the fight to be extremely competitive but the altitude seemed to play a factor as the Champ looked a shadow of his previous self in the fight. Werdum took full advantage of his opponents lack of fitness and put it on the AKA product from the opening bell.

His opponent on Saturday night, Stipe Miocic will undoubtedly have studied this fight and will be looking for any holes in the Champion’s game. Check it out for yourself by clicking below.
