People will follow anything on social media nowadays…
After defeating Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title at UFC 205, Conor McGregor went on a leave of absence. Tending to his family needs, McGregor remained the lightweight champion, but with no timeline on his return.
Stripping ‘The Notorious’ of the featherweight belt, the UFC unknowingly built a rift between them and their biggest star. Tension mounted as McGregor took a stand, and he was certainly not fighting again for at least six months. His pregnant girlfriend Dee Devlin was his main focus.

Without McGregor
As the UFC struggled to find active fighters to sell big numbers, McGregor went in search of the ultimate payday. Obviously this wasn’t with the UFC, rather a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
We’ll return to that subject in a moment, for now let’s switch to Dee Devlin and her new born baby. Named Conor Jack McGregor Jr., the new born son of the McGregor family weighed 8lb. 4oz. The young sprog already has nearly 17,000 Instagram followers at the time of this article:
Speaking via The Mirror, Conor McGregor’s father Tony made the following statement:
“There’s great news for the McGregor’s and the Devlins. Baby Conor Jack McGregor was delivered last night at 8pm in the Coombe Hospital.”
“He came in at 8 pounds 14 ounces. The whole family are absolutely delighted.”
“We’ve experienced this recently with our eldest daughter and there’s no better feeling in the world than being a grandparent. The parents are absolutely over the moon and everyone is healthy.”

Future UFC Star?
McGregor recently said the following on Instagram, indicating he’d train his son to become a UFC champion:
Here is a reply video I sent one of my protégés who was seeking advice on some boxing only pad work footage they sent me. I believe you will like it. The focus has been solely boxing lately but make no mistakes, the kicking and grappling aspects, and everything else got to do with unlimited free fighting, is still very much present in my thoughts. Floyd may crap his jocks after all and if so I will go back to true fighting or just pick another boxer like manny or something. But whatever that’s another conversation.
I like to build fighters and watch their progression. I have built many to this date, and all unintentionally. One is fighting in the UFC main event this weekend.
When my son is born I will build him up into a multiple free fighting world champion also. Just like his old man. I look forward to it.
Looking to fight agaist Mayweather at some point this summer, its safe to say McGregor really doesn’t need the UFC anymore. Putting the Irishman in an even more powerful position with the promotion is their lack of stars and/or reluctance to promote other athletes.
