Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino makes her UFC debut this weekend against Leslie Smith in Curitiba and her ex-husband had plenty to say about the fight, the UFC itself and a certain ‘Notorious’ Irishman.
Envangelista Santos, who has the same nickname as his ex wife, ‘Cyborg’, spoke to MMA Fighting recently about his ex’s upcoming bout at UFC 198. Santos believes that the UFC did not want Cyborg because she would take the shine off their “cash cow” Ronda Rousey.
“If they really wanted the best female fighters, Cris should be the first one they signed but they boycotted her. Ronda is their biggest moneymaker. She got knocked out but will fight for the belt again, while [Jose] Aldo won’t get his rematch after years as champion. I don’t think that’s good for the sport. It’s all about money, and they don’t care about the fighter.”
Santos didn’t just sop there though, the former Pride and Strikeforce veteran continued his rant on the UFC and even turned his attentions to McGregor, who the Brazilian feels has received preferential treatment in the UFC.
